Mad Cortes was founded in year 2000 by Mira Vukovic graduate from Sydney Institute of Technology. Mad Cortes made its debut at the College Graduation show in 2000 which enjoyed phenomenal success.
Mira was the winner of the prestigious Tiffany & Co’s New Designer Award in March 2004. Following the success of Mad Cortes’ first individual show for MAFW in May of 2004, the label was picked up by prestigious UK store Liberty. In the same year Karl Lagerfeld was guest editor for Australian Vogue and Mad Cortes dress was shot and featured by Karl in his Collectors Edition. In 2005, Mad Cortes won the inaugural Best-Emerging Designer award at MAFW after showing their Spring Summer 05/06.
A Mad Cortes collection which was purchased in 2005 by the National Gallery of Victoria and was selected to be showcased in an exhibition entitled Black in Fashion: From Morning to Night, which explores the symbolism and enduring use of black in Australian and international fashion.
Mad Cortes evokes images of a strong, edgy yet sophisticated woman. It is this ideal which has been successfully maintained and enabled the label to develop its own unique niche in the fashion market. Its recognizable signature style fuses unexpected elements together, contributing to the label’s modern, quirky edge. It is the unpredictable and individual details that I bring to each new range, which enables Mad Cortes to stand out.

After much anticipation, Winter 2017 collection sees Mad Cortes relaunch into the marketplace
with a beautifully ethereal collection. The new collection from designer Mira Vukovic is aptly titled ‘Chapter 1’ which symbolizes a new beginning for the much loved label. ‘Chapter 1’ conjures up a sense of nostalgia with its familiarly wearable Mad Cortes silhouettes, while a fresh new energy is
added. Staying true to the ‘expect the unexpected’ ethos the label has come to be known for fresh, highly wearable and original styles.
